Siobhan O'Sullivan

Senior Hiking Guide & Outdoor Content Specialist

Frogpeakfarm Solutions Ltd

"Ireland's hills aren't just for experienced climbers. I've spent 14 years proving that anyone — whether you're 8 or 80, fit or just getting started — can experience the real magic of our mountains. It's not about conquering peaks. It's about discovering that you're capable of more than you thought."

— Siobhan O'Sullivan

14 Years Leading Ireland's Walkers

Siobhan grew up exploring County Cork's rugged landscape. What started as weekend family walks became a lifelong passion. After earning her degree in Environmental Science from University College Cork, she worked as a conservation officer for the Irish Wildlife Trust. But she kept thinking about one thing — most people had no idea how to safely enjoy Ireland's hills.

That gap led her to mountain guiding. She earned her International Mountain Leader qualification in 2010 and hasn't stopped since. Over the past 14 years, she's led more than 2,000 guided walks across Kerry, Wicklow, Connemara, and the Mourne Mountains. She's trained 35+ assistant guides. She's personally tested and documented over 180 beginner-level routes. The numbers matter, but here's what really matters — people who thought they couldn't do it, did it.

At frogpeakfarm Solutions Ltd, Siobhan directs all content strategy and route validation. Every guide you'll find reflects her obsessive approach to detail. She doesn't just read about trails online. She walks them. In different seasons. In different weather. She checks what actually works for families, for older hikers, for people who haven't exercised in years.

Where Siobhan's Knowledge Runs Deepest

Four regions, 180+ personally tested routes, years of real-world experience with beginners and families.

Kerry's Easy Peaks

McGillycuddy's Reeks and surrounding ranges offer some of Ireland's most spectacular scenery. Siobhan's specialization: finding the accessible routes that don't require mountaineering skills but deliver stunning views.

Glendalough Valley Trails

Wicklow's most famous valley combines history, water, and woodland walks. She's mapped routes for every fitness level — from 2-mile gentle loops to moderate 5-mile hikes with real variety.

Connemara Loop Routes

Dramatic quartzite peaks and remote bog lands. Siobhan specializes in loop walks that feel like wilderness adventures but stay accessible to people without technical climbing experience.

Family Hillwalking in Mourne Mountains

The Mournes are beautiful and accessible. She's identified routes where kids stay engaged, where the payoff (views, stories, exploration) matches the effort required.

Safety & Accessibility Assessment

Every route she publishes gets rigorously tested. Terrain type, water crossings, exposure, seasonal challenges — she documents it all so you know exactly what you're getting.

Outdoor Education & Training

She's trained assistant guides and runs workshops on navigation, weather reading, and group management. Her teaching philosophy: make people feel capable, not intimidated.

How Siobhan Thinks About Hiking

Real-World Testing

She doesn't guess. She doesn't rely on old guidebooks. Every route gets walked in multiple seasons, in different weather conditions. She checks how families actually move through the landscape. Where do people struggle? Where do they smile? That's what gets documented.

Accessibility Over Difficulty

The question isn't "How hard is this route?" It's "Who can enjoy this route safely?" She specializes in finding routes where beginners, families, older hikers, and people returning to fitness can all have genuine experiences without feeling out of place or unsafe.

Honest Documentation

You won't find inflated difficulty ratings or vague descriptions. Water crossings are noted. Exposed sections are flagged. Seasonal hazards are mentioned. She writes guides the way she'd explain a walk to a friend — practical, direct, nothing hidden.

Building Confidence

She's not interested in intimidating people. Her goal? Show someone they're more capable than they think. Start with an achievable walk. Build skills gradually. Next thing you know, they're attempting routes they'd never have considered before.
